KeKe Palmer Talks Dream Role and Fave LA Grub Spots

compiled by Gerren Keith Gaynor
If you haven't noticed, KeKe Palmer is all grown up. Though the child star actress is known for her squeaky clean roles in films like "Akeelah and the Bee" and "Madea's Family Reunion," Palmer is ready to break out of her shell--but don't expect to see her in the tabloids. The 19-year-old actress is taking a stab at music and released her self-titled mixtape with a more mature look and sound. "People identify me with the wholesome characters I play but that's only one part of who I am," Palmer tells VIBE. "It takes time for people to get used to my music and me talking about mature things." Palmer, who made her acting debut at the age of 10, just picked up a reprising role on the CW network's 90210, and is laying down vocals in the studio for her next album. As for what singer she'd like to play in a biopic? "Aaliyah," she says. "That would mean so much to me because I love her and her music inspired so many including me." The Midwest turned Cali triple threat's reign doesn't seem to be letting off anytime soon. Check out her favorite spots to grab some grub in LA when she's not in the studio or in front of the camera.

Osteria Mozza

"It has great pizza. It’s the restaurant of famous chef Matt Molina. The pizza is very creative. My favorite pizza is the squash blossom pizza. I didn’t think I'd like it but it was really good. I took my little brother and sister there and they loved it."
Editorial Review
Sometimes what you want is a five-course pasta dinner with two desserts. Italians aren’t known for desserts, but Batali & Co. do them well. Or something from a world-famous mozzarella bar. Yeah, a bar stocked with cheese. It’s next to the booze bar. And you might spot a celebrity chef behind it. Pizzeria Mozza’s younger but more elegant sibling is expensive. Fun, not stuffy. So LA.
