Luke James' Favorite Spots to Shop and Eat in London, LA, and NYC

compiled by Gerren Keith Gaynor
During a Brandy concert at the Best Buy Theater in New York, R&B newcomer Luke James was called onto the stage by the singer to perform his breakthrough single, “I Want You." The performance was captivating, showcasing his piercing falsetto and powerful vocal range. Whether or not the audience was familiar with his Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop-charting single, it was apparent that after his performance, no one would forget his name, or voice. James has opened up for not only Brandy, who he says he admires, but also pop superstar Beyoncé. Though he is quickly making a name for himself in the music circuit, little is known about the New Orleans-bred crooner. To get to know him better, VIBE chatted with James, who filled us in on some little-known facts—he’s frugal with his money, lives in Harlem, and tends to get nervous before he hits the stage. James also revealed that he’ll be releasing a free compilation of interludes from his upcoming debut album, “Made to Love.” Find out where James likes to eat when he’s in London, his favorite bar and restaurant in New York, and his go-to spot for shopping on a budget in Los Angeles.

Georgio's Country Grill

NEW YORK: “This is my go-to place when I’m hungry. Usually, as artists we wait to the last minute to eat, so that’s where I go. I get the grilled BBQ chicken with sapphire rice—it’s delicious! They also have inspiring chicken wings. The first time I ever dined there I had breakfast, which was amazing. Later, my manager and I went there in the middle of the day and I got a full meal.”
Editorial Review
While the inside of this country grill is reminiscent of the southern diners of the past (exposed bricked walls, simple wooden tables), the menu is more about all-American cuisine. Delish brunch and breakfast dishes like the hot country oatmeal and corned beef hash browns. Dinner specialities include pizza and pasta. Don't bother dressing up, this place is all about casual dining.
