Syleena Johnson's Atlanta Spots for Fitness, Fun, and Fashion
On the hit reality show, R&B Divas, viewers quickly resonated with seasoned R&B singer Syleena Johnson’s home-girl appeal and stunningly raspy voice, once featured on Kanye West’s “When It All Falls Down.” The independent artist is currently recording her sixth studio album, tentatively titled, Chapter 6: Couple’s Therapy, and performing at shows around the country. In addition to her music, Johnson tells VIBE she’s releasing the Mommy’s Got Soul fitness DVD. “Most DVD [trainers] are skinny with six-packs,” she says. “That didn’t really identify with me. I gained 75 with one child and 65 on another, and I’m still trying to get the weight off from the last one.” Johnson hopes her DVD will be a more realistic way to motivate moms to lose their baby weight. The health-conscious singer-songwriter will also run in the Atlanta Mission 5K Run for Hunger (www.atlantamission.org) to raise money for the homeless. Though she’s dropped the french fries for a salad, Johnson still knows how to have a good time. Find out where the Atlanta-based singer likes to go for fitness, fun, and fashion.
