Tia Mowry's Must-Go-To Restaurants and Shop in LA
In the ‘90s, Tia Mowry wiggled her way into the hearts of American audiences as the star--along with her identical twin, Tamera--of the hit television sitcom Sister, Sister. Now, Tia is all grown up. After making her television comeback as Melanie on CW’s The Game (now reprised on BET), Mowry has become a household name by her own right. She also reunited with Tamera for their reality television show on the Style Network. Mowry is now a wife, mother, author, and the executive producer and co-star of a brand new sitcom on Nick at Nite called Instant Mom. The buzzing actress also stars in The Mistle-Tones, a Christmas musical on ABC Family, and the comedy Baggage Claim, which hits theaters in 2013. When she’s not on the set, Mowry tells VIBE she likes to watch 16 and Pregnant and vibe out to Frank Ocean, whose music she and her husband play in the car on their way to dinner dates. “I am a lover of Frank Ocean,” says the Los Angeles native. “All of his music has an artistic theme.” See her favorite LA spots for lounging and dining, as well as her favorite place to shop, after the jump.

Osteria Mamma
"It’s not a big, flamboyant restaurant, which is what I like about it, but you have to make reservations because it books up very quickly. I lived in Italy for two years, and nothing in the U.S. can replicate authentic Italian food, but this restaurant comes close. It’s very warm, homey, and they have the best wines. One of my favorite plates is the halibut and spinach—it’s unbelievable. They also have the best fried calamari with fried carrots and mushrooms. I’ve never had anything like it."
Editorial Review
Mom cooks, son runs the show. Previously at Osteria La Buca down the street, this team found that the goals of the ownership differed from their own, so they moved on. Problem solvers! Expect very homey, authentic food from the idiosyncratic hands of Mamma herself; the decor matches the down-home food. Squid ink pasta is particularly famous, cuts of meat are well-prepared. Not too expensive, either.
